Social CRM for the techie

Phew! I finally managed to get this out before the end of the year! I have already shared with you my previous mind map on Social Media Metrics, and also my presentation on introduction to Social CRM.

Here I present the overview of what comprises of Social CRM from a technology stand point. This is no where complete & needs a lot of refinement, additions, etc. and thus will continue to evolve. Your feedback & inputs are most welcome. :)

Wish you all a very happy new year! :)

This man writes A to Z on rice in 25 seconds!

I would like to do something like that sometime! :)

Do watch till the end of this YouTube video from the Ripley's show, where you can see the Rice man, David Pay, writing A to Z on a grain of rice with just a needle & paint in 25 seconds flat! Less than a second for each alphabet!!!

I need to make a needle like that first, before I can think of writing all the alphabets on a grain of rice.

As I had shared sometime back with you all, I too write on rice, but no where as professionally as this dude! :)

BTW, I also found this dude too practiced when grounded, like me, was inspired by watching the Chinese art of writing on rice, like I was inspired by the Indian art of writing on rice & we both have another thing in common - we both grew up reading the Hardy Boys series! :)

Social CRM - A brief Introduction

Just published this preso on Social CRM. Its for a slightly tech oriented audience. I know that software is the last step in Social CRM, yet that last step needs to be taken care of. :) Any inputs, feedback welcome. :)

Testing the Location field :)

I was alerted to the new "Location" field in Blogger on Facebook. :)

Hope this comes out good. Wonder how it can be used on my A-GPS enabled phone.

Update:
Heres the announcement: http://bloggerindraft.blogspot.com/2008/12/new-feature-geotagging.html

And am unable to see the link below my posts, evidently because I customized my template a bit :(

Let me try doing what has been suggested in the comments on that above post.

The roof of a chair car

Couldn't get an air conditioned chair car due to late bookings. Thought it would be a great experience for Om too, in the midst of the heart of India, its huge, growing, boisterous and vociferous middle class.

The Celestial Smiley or the Thanksgiving Sky!

I was alerted to this celestial event on Twitter by @twilightfairy wherein the Moon, Jupiter & Venus are forming a triangle tonight to give the impression of a smiley. :)

I could not observe them since the skies near my area were all obscured by clouds, especially in the southwestern portion of the sky, where the event was visible.

But I persevered & was gifted with this view :D

I have also posted this pic in TwitPic.

Rice Writing & Microcalligraphy

I was emotionally tired & befuddled after incessantly following the terrorist attack of Mumbai last week. I needed to do something to unwind. I had to do something outside a computer.

When I was faced with this quandary, I remembered one of my old loves, rice writing, a form of microcalligraphy.

Most of you might not have heard of it, so let me give you a primer. :)

Rice writing is the art of writing on a grain of rice. Yes, on a single grain of rice. :) Its actually quite a popular & old art in India.

If you are in India, you might come across some enterprising people on the pavements or some cultural/heritage locations who write your name on a grain of rice & put it in a key chain.

I have seen them in Tirumala (opp. Le Pakshi store) and in Swabhumi, Kolkata. I have heard of them on the footpath of M.G. Road, Bangalore.

I checked on Wikipedia and found that this is an age old tradition in Turkey and a fine art within the Jewish community.

I am no where near the "14,164 letters on a single grain of rice" feat achieved by Bly the Rice Writer, who was also chosen as #3 of the ten best Believe it or Nots by Ripley himself & one of the performers at the Odditorium too.

I guess I have been interested in writing pretty small letters from around my early high school days. I used to write my notes in small letters much to the chagrin of my teachers & parents. I was interested in all things small & microscopic. I was the best in class in handling a microscope in the lab & preparing the slides, be they of cheek cells or blood sample or stem cross sections, etc.

I don't remember when or where or how I got the idea, but I started writing on rice may be sometime in my mid teens. And then lost touch with it after joining work.

Now am glad to have rediscovered my old love. I couldn't wait to buy/create my tools. I started practicing on a sheet of paper, having been out of practice of writing on paper as such. ;) Theres always a mobile or a computer or laptop or netbook when I need writing. :D

So here are a couple of the practice shots. Hope you like them. :)

And here are a couple of shots of something that I would like to preserve. :)
